The Mercedes truck towing a search light will be built as a “Panzerwreck”, a destroyed, burned out hulk on a German street in the dio.

Next, the Mercedes Luftwaffe Truck and Searchlight after being built

Here they are painted in “dunkelblau” Luftwaffe blue, painted, waiting for detailing and weathering.

This is complete as far as the model is concerned, but won’t be totally complete until mounted on the diorama with ashes underneath and surrounded by mounds of rubble.

Here is the way the truck was damaged prior to painting. All tires have burned away and will be simulated on the ground when it is attached to the diorama.

It was much more difficult for me than building and painting an intact vehicle. This is my first attempt at a “Panzerwreck”! Good practice for the next GB, the extremely little and lethal build a flakpanzer 38T. Later, there will be a panzer IV J blown to hell. All three will go on the new diorama. The Mercedes cargo truck has been hit a week or so earlier by a 75mm round, which ignited the gas tank under the front seat’

It is a little difficult to see in this pic, but the explosion and especially the flames only burned the viewers side of the searchlight.

I created the effect of shattered safety glass by thinning the clear parts micro thin, then making vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines on the inside.
